Byers-Bailey |
Thelma Byers-Bailey filed for the District 2 seat on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school board today, bringing the total to four incumbents and two newcomers. It's only Day 2 of filing, which runs through July 19.
Byers-Bailey, a lawyer, CMS grandparent and daughter of the educator whose name graces
Walter G. Byers School, is the first candidate to file for the westside District 2 seat. Incumbent Richard McElrath hasn't said whether he'll seek a second term.

Bailey |
Paul Bailey, mayor pro tem of Matthews, filed Friday to run for the south suburban District 6 seat. Amelia Stinson-Wesley, appointed to that seat two years ago when Tim Morgan won an at-large seat, also hasn't revealed her plans. Like Morgan, Bailey is active in Boy Scouts. He has spent 16 years on the Matthews Town Council (he doesn't have a campaign web site yet, but
his bio is on the town site).
As expected, the incumbents have filed for re-election in the other four districts: Rhonda Lennon in District 1, Joyce Waddell in District 3, Tom Tate in District 4 and Eric Davis in District 5. Keep up with filings at the
Mecklenburg Board of Elections web site. See a
map of voting districts here.

All 6 need to be replaced. They blindly followed Pete and need to be removed for not using their better judgement. Ok, Stinson-Wesley didn't blindly follow, but really, District 6 finally needs a strong person to represent its interests.
Bailey seems too much like a clone of Morgan so no vote on that one. Matthews must have a conservative in the area to step up and help the students?

WHAT IS A CONSERVATIVE?
I wouldn't know Mr. Bailey if I saw him. Never spoke to him.
But you imply that Mr. Bailey isn't a conservative. Don't know what your idea of a conservative is. Let's see if the endorsement letter he wrote for Jeff Tarte during the last State Senate campaign gives some clues. Below is an excerpt....
".....As Mayor of Cornelius, Jeff has been able to cut taxes, manage spending, save money, reduce regulations, increase services, and help Cornelius grow as a town. He knows what works for our small businesses and what does not. He will NOT micromanage us from Raleigh. He WILL help us reduce regulations and taxes on our growth while still respecting the role of our towns government.
NO OTHER CANDIDATE HAS VOWED TO WORK WITH THE TOWNS IN DISTRICT 41 TO GET THINGS DONE, CUT TAXES AND SHRINK THE SIZE OF GOVERNMENT. EVERY OTHER CANDIDATE WANTS TO INCREASE THE SIZE AND REACH OF OUR GOVERNMENT IN RALEIGH.
Mayor Jeff Tarte is the only candidate who has delivered efficient government that has stayed out of the pockets of you the taxpayer.
We strongly urge you to support conservative principles with proven results in this May election. Support Mayor Jeff Tarte for NC State Senate."
Those comments appeared above Mr. Bailey's name and that of the Mayor of Matthews.
I'm not ready to endorse any candidate, but I'm willing to listen to anyone who puts in writing, principles to govern by.

SOMEONE PLEASE RUN AGAINST JOYCE WADDELL!!!!
Bolyn, once again your in the Morgans camp and their lackey candidate they can puppet. Is this pretty predictable? I can recall your last endorsement Erica Stewart and we all watched that train wreck. So your endorsements as just a simpleton from Pineville has no value.
